Saumur's Tourism

Situated in the countryside, North of Saumur, (1 km away), « La Bouère Salée » is an ideal starting point for many rides and walks.

You will enjoy visiting the Château which dominates the town and offers a gorgeous panoramic view of the Loire.

You will visit troglodytic dwellings, wine and mushroom cellars and admire typical tuffeau houses of the Loire Valley…

You will also learn about the history of Saumur, from King René to the Cadets of Saumur, heroes of the second world war.

You will discover the so famous Cadre Noir and the National Riding School.

You will explore plenty of picturesque sites: the craft village of Turquant, the Romanesque Church of Cunault, Montsoreau and its 11th century Château overlooking the Loire, Fontevraud and its Abbey founded in the 12th century…

You will also admire the largest vineyards of the Loire Valley, taste and enjoy dry, sweet or sparkling wines.
You will also taste delicious typical food: « fouées » or « galipettes » (mushrooms) stuffed and cooked in the oven.

« La Bouère Salée » is on the « Loire à Vélo » trail (800m). So if you want to enjoy the countryside and cycle along the Royal River, you can rent bikes nearby… We have shelters for them.
